Committee Updates: National/state
National Program Committees:
250th Anniversary of the U.S.A. is changed to America 250 to reflect the official name as designated by Congress and the Commission (see America250.org) and moved to a Program Committee with a sunset of the 2034 National Convention following the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris. The 250th Yorktown Day Celebration becomes a vice chair of this committee as part of the C.A.R. celebration of America 250.
American Heritage is changed to American Traditions to greater distinguish from American History and also prevent confusion between the C.A.R. American Heritage committee and the DAR American Heritage committee.
Kids Helping Kids is changed to Community Impact to broaden the opportunity and focus of local societies and members to make positive change through service in their communities. C.A.R. Day of Service becomes a component of Community Impact and Mountain Schools (now referred to as C.A.R. Supported Schools) also becomes a component of Community Impact. The Mountain Schools pin will continue to be sold with funds being distributed to the five supported schools.
Veterans is changed to American Heroes to expand the purpose to include active-duty military and first responders.
Engagement Committees:
C.A.R./DAR/SAR/S.R. Relations is divided into DAR Relations, SAR/S.R. Relations, and a new Alumni Relations committee to aid in recruitment of new members and senior leaders and support for C.A.R. programs and projects from each individual group.
Children of the American Revolution Magazine Editor is renamed to The C.A.R. Magazine. The Associate Editor and Editor will serve as Senior Chairs. Magazine Advertising becomes a component of the committee.
Public Relations and C.A.R. Newsletters are moved from Program committees to Engagement and combined into Communications.
Development is renamed Philanthropy. Endowment Fund and Magazine Fund are shifted under Philanthropy under Donor Pins, as we now have more than two Funds pins and the fund resolutions do not name these committees.
N.S.C.A.R. Societies in Foreign Countries is renamed Societies Abroad to simplify the
name.
National Administrative Committees:
Archivist is moved from “Other Appointments” to an administrative committee and renamed C.A.R. Archives. The scope is narrowed to only include items not already maintained by C.A.R. staff and other designated officers. Establishing a committee instead of an individual appointment also allows for multiple members/seniors to be appointed to help fulfill the duties of the committee.
Child Protection standing committee is created as we move forward in implementation of a Child Protection Plan.
Auditing and Magazine Review become sub-committees of Finance with named chairs to better align with current practices.
Webmaster and iMIS Coordinator become components of Information Technology to streamline their efforts and structure reporting.
